The Dunbar was once the only hotel in Gainesville that served African American guests during racial segregation. The hotel hosted several talented and well respected Black musicians, educators, business owners and their families while it was operating. The Dunbar Hotel changed into different facilities over the years until 2021 when it was renovated into a wine and cheese bar. My fellow photojournalism students, a student writer and I worked together as a team to bring this story to life for UF's Atrium Magazine.
